You must provide the following things for your hermit Crab to be healthy and live happily!
+ One cage for your pet. You can buy one at any pet store, or use a terrarium.
+ One food dish. I use a small seashell to put the food in. Don't forget to give them daily fruit or vegatables so they can stay healthy.
+ One small water dish. If your hermit crab is a baby or really samll, put a piece of sponge in the water dish so the crab can get out of the dish easily.
+ Crabs do better in social areas. They do not like to be lonley. So make sure there is atlest two crabs in one living area.
+ DO NOT use a heat lamp. They can easily get over heated. They like moist areas, not over heated areas.
More Information About Hermit Crabs
These crabs do not transfer diseases to mankind or carry them. They can last up to 3 years or longer.
They lay their babies in eggs in the sea kind of like frogs. They don't lay eggs when in captivity.
When your crab looks like it is too big for it's shell, buy a bigger one and oput the new shell in the hermit crab's cage, and it will soon move into the new shell.
Some families had their hermit crabs live up to 15 years.
The first week you have your pet, be sure to play with him alot so can get to know you, but don't over do it.
