Congradulations on ordering my new program,
I assume since you've ordered the program that you (or someone you know) are in this trade.
My name is Fred Crosby and I've been in this business for over 16 years, for the last 4 years I've worked for myself and have enjoyed what I do more now than ever before, there is nothing more satisfying than being your own boss.
What ever reasons you had for purchasing this program, either for self-employment or just to earn some extra income in your spare time, this course will help you to accomplish your goals.
What you are about to undertake is a new way of marketing your skills, to a group of customers that are very much over looked in our line of business.
What I mean buy this, is the type of customer we're going to focus on has always been there, but no one has ever offered them the type of help they really need.
As I have advertised, this is an extremely easy to follow 3 step program that will take you from start to finish, and in just a few days you will be on your way to operating your own full or part-time business.
Step 1. Identifying Your Customers
To me there are two kinds of people in the world, those that fix things and those that CAN'T. Your customers are definitely the ones that can't
Because of these mega Home Improvement Centers, there are now more do-it-yourselfers than ever before, these people go to these places with the idea that they will learn how to do a project simply by watching some instructor (who has little or no real on the job experience) demonstrate how to do a particular project.
Some simply think, that with these newer how-to-books, they qualify to go out and construct a high-rise building, the truth is, you need some kind skills or ability to complete these projects so they don't appear to have been done by a blind man, and lets face it! these people just don't have that ability.
They don't know where they went wrong with the project, or what to do to correct it, they need your skills and expertise. So you see, here we have an entirely new type of customer.
Now that we have identifyed your customers, let's talk about the kind of service you're going to offer them. This new customer is going to change how you have been doing business in the past.
No longer are you going to be the guy that has to sweat 8 to 14 hours a day just to be under paid for your work, these people need what you have to offer and here's why!
They have spent money on materials, tools, time and energy, they want this project completed as soon as possible with no more cost to them than necessary, so they don't want to hire an expensive contractor, and don't forget about the embaresment of not being able to finish what they started.
So instead of you doing business like before, you're now in the consulting business, that's correct, you are going to become a consultant. Let me futher explain before you show up on your first assignment wearing a suite and tie.
What makes you a consultant is that you were not hired to do the job yourself, you were hired to give them your knowledge on what to do , so they can finish the job. You have the skills and no-how and this is what you were hired for, therefore you are now a CONSULTANT.
Step 2. Where To Find These People and How To Reach Them!
They're everywhere, at any of the Home Improvement Centers to the local Hardware Stores, you see them everyday. Advertising is how we're going to reach them, as I've said you can start this business for under $20.00 it actually cost me just $14.80 to get started.
Place an ad in your local newspaper, and you want to have this ad to be seen in the Sunday edition (it has more viewer's) also have your ad placed in thier Home Improvement Section (if they have one) or the classified section.
The fewer words the less it will cost, and only place the ad for one day, as you begin to get customers and your business improves you'll be able to have your had run on a regular basis.
Also look for small local Free papers to place your ads in, I've found that a lot of times when you are a new business just starting, some of them will let you place your first ad for Free.
Here's one of the Ads that I personally use:
Handyman Services
We offer expert guidence on any Home Improvement
Project you're having trouble with call XXX-XXXX
there are two other forms of advertising that we don't want to over look, that's business cards and flyers. If you're anything like me you don't have the time nor do you like going out placing flyers from door to door, but you don't have to.
Print some flyers and keep them with you, on your next trip tp the hardware store or the Home Improvement Centers, just place a flyer on their bill boards, they have a place where contractors place business thier cards.
You can't ignore the effectiveness of flyers and business cards, they are a great way to advertise and relatively cheap.
Step 3. Charging For Your Services
Don't under estimate the value of your services, as you and I both know, we're very seldom if ever, paid what we're really worth, just remember you have the skills and they need you.
I can't tell you what's right for you, and each project is going to be different, some will be more difficult than others so here is what I find that works for me.
I tell my customers when they call to inquire about my services, how long I've been in the business, the type of services we offer
After finding out what type of problem they are having, we discuss my fees and how I charge.
What I do, is have a service charge of $40 just to come out, this is not out of the question if you think about it. Servicemen in all types of trades have a service gharge to come out, plumbers, applience repairmen, electricians, heating and cooling companies, and you need to have a service charge to.
I tell my customers there's an initial charge of $40 when I come out, and a charge of $25 dollars an hour for every hour after that. This may seen a little high to you at first but you have to stop and consider these things:
1. Your driving time to and from the site
2. the cost of gas to and from
3. Your time ( you may be there an hour, or they may need you
for two or more).
4. The most important! Your skills.
You don't find Lawyers, accountants or tax consultants giving away their expertise do you? NO and neither should you.
You have just finished the 3 steps necessary to go out and start your new business venture. Follow these three steps closely and in just a few days you'll have paying customers calling you.
Summary
Following the the steps in this guide will put you in business within a few days.
You'll have a business where you no longer have to do the work, (your customers will, (under your guidence)
You'll find that in some cases, by the time the customer calls you, they're already fed-up with the project and will try to get you to complete it, if you decide to do so, that's more money in your pockets.
You'll have a business that will allow you to except the jobs that you want to do.
You can work full or part-time
Best of all your customers will do the work, supply the materials and all the tools and eqiuptment necessary to complete the project.
I wish you the best of luck,
Any Handyman Can,
Fred Crosby
