QUANT-5 SELF-CONTAINED GAS
PRODUCER (ELECTROLYZER).


There has been designed a simple and reliable device
for high-temperature processing (heating, brazing,
welding and cutting) of metals and other materials. The
basis of the device is an economical electrolysis cell
for production of combustible oxyhydrogen mixture due
to electrolysis of water.
Maximum sizes of a flame are 15-20 cm in height and
1 cm in diameter. The temperature is up to 2 800°C.
Tap water with specially selected alcalinous additives
is used as working medium. Water consumption is not
more than 70 -100 g/h. Power consumption does not
exceed 0.5 kW. Continuous operation time is -
without limitation!



The cell's dimensions are selected depending on
the sizes of the flame needed for the given kind of
work: 225x245x350 mm to process large width
parts from metals and alloys, and 3-4 times less
for "fine work".
To increase overall performance of the gas
producer the electrolysis cells should be connected
in parallel.

The electrolyzer is promising for use both in
household conditions and in industry, including for
point heating for tempering, annealing and hardening
of metal parts with the aim of their further
processing; burning of holes and stucco moulding;
tiny parts flashing off; brazing of jewelry, dentures
and integrated circuits microassemblies; spot
annealing of platinum wire and springs; gas-flame
glass processing and cutting of technological
tongue of glass parts; thermocouple welding; optical
fiber microwelding; heating during bending of thin-
walled pi pes,etc.


The expediency of its application in quality is demonstrated
airborne equipment of the automobile with hooking up to
to the generator:


The efficiency of the engine increases within the limits of 3 - 9 %, in a consequent
enrichings of entirety of combustion of fuel.



As compared with analogues known, the gas
producer offers the following advantages: an
optimized electrolysis cell (minimum heat release
with maximum gas emission); a one-piece filled
structure, providing explosion safety; natural
circulation of the working liquid, which allows use
of undistilled water and decreases demands of an
electrolyte concentration constancy; a power supply
unit matching inductance-capacitance parameters
of the gas-producing unit, which enhances
performance and continuous operation time.
There are inventor's certificates and patents of the
RF for the structure and gas mixture production
process.

II.LASER CHEMICAL-THERMAL TECHNOLOGY FOR CUTTING TOOLS HARDENING.
Complete technology and equipment to
manufacture quality cutting tools (saw and
hasksaw blades, etc).
The technology is based on use of a laser source and
oxygen-hydrogen high-temperature flame and enables to
significantly improve the products' operational cha-
racteristics.
The effect is achieved due to local treatment
(chemical-thermal
doping) of the tool's
cutting edge to impart
to it the needed hardness
and wear-resistance
with no impact on the
other, relatively soft and
flexible, part of the
blade.
Due to the high
efficiency of the process,
as compared with
conventional techniques of
heating either in a flame or
in a furnace with
subsequent hardening in
cooling liquids, the prime
cost of the product can be
reduced at least twofold.
Simultaneously, the wear-
resistance of the tool's
cutting edge is significantly
increased.
The RF patent is
available. There has been
developed design docu-
mentation by which a
pilot batch of
processing equipment has been produced.
The technology has been tried in laboratory and
industrial conditions on different cutting tools
manufactured from hard and conventional tool-production
alloys. It has been implemented at the leading machine-
building enterprise of the light industry of the RF.
