later with Merchant Marine Service as Quartemaster on
USS Levathian Ocean Liner.

Samuel T. Burgess 3rd (Tom) b. 1921 NY, when his mother Mataldia and father Samuel T. Burgess divorced abt 1934 he moved in with his
Grandmother Wilberta Burgess then attended Nantucket schools
was football star, and other sports.
Our grandmother died then he moved away, he married Elanor and
resided at Buffalo, NY with thier children, Sam Burgess III
died 1976 of Lukeminia.
Robert Edward Burgess: b. 1926
Bobs first marriage to Marilyn, one son died, other lives Long Island, NY.
Bobs 2nd marriage at Buffalo, NY has several children.
Shirley M. Burgess b. Jan 1929 NY, lived with mother, step father
"Morris", and a half sister. Shirley married Frank Roy Jannson they lived at Valley Stream Long Island, Nassau county, in 70's family moved to Schilkhaven, Pa. Shirley died Dec 2004 was burried at Wilson Church yard Cem on Wilson St, Skilhaven, Pa by her husband Frank Jannson, son Jeffery Jannson, and her mother Matildia Morris.
Wilberta Bent Devlan was married to Samuel t. Burgess 1857-1926, mother of Samuel T. Burgess 1903-1985 and Ralph Emerson b.Philadelphia, Pa 1894-1931.
She was daughter William T. Devlan born NJ 1841 and Hannah Wright Brigham. She notes she attended Coffin School on Nantucket.
Lived in the family home at 28 Pine st, Nantucket and came to visit us at Bronx, NY and died there 1943,1944, she is burried next to her husband Samuel T. Burges 1857-1926 and son Ralph Emerson Burgess 1894 at Nantucket Prospect Hill Cementary.
Samuel Thompson Burgess 1903-1985 maternal grandfather was
William T. Devlan 1841 NJ, he received a retirment pension from the
US Navy, moved to Nantucket ma,by 1890, owned 26,28,30 Pine st, had first telephone switchboard between houses, owned agriculture common shares and partner with Henry P. Brown hardwared store.

William T. Devlan was visiting his mother and sister Fanney, he was Gunners Mate with Union Navy. (served on Iron Clad ship). showing mother born England, father ? born Ireland.
Wilberta's mother Hannah Wright Brigham divorced W.T.Devlan she married William Edgar Bates sr a doctor at a Medical School,
Philadelphia,Pa. Wilberta lived with them and a half brother
William Edgar Bates jr, Wm Edgar Bates our dad called him
"Uncle Ted" Wilberta was a nurse and met her husband Samuel T. Burgess when he got out of Navy and visted relatives was hospalized as he visited relatives after serving with US Navy. was visiting relatives at Philadelphia he was hospalized and met her. 1910 they moved to Nantucket, Ma and her father gave them 28 Pine st. as he was partner in a hardwared store with henry p. coffin, owned agriculture common lands, had first telephone switchboard on island between 26,28,30 Pine st as the owner.
dad's brother Ralph Burgess was in US Marines when he died serving at Hati Jan 1931, he was burried at Prospect Hill Cementary with Military Honors at our family plot off the Hummock Pond Rd entrance.
When he died he had a child, im told he was mentioned in our grandmotehrs probate? but we hear ralph's widow remarried.
Samuel T. Burgess 1903-1982 married second wife Kertu Karin Majanen and had daughters Gertrude Burgess 1936, Marie Burgess 1939, Annette Burgess 1941,Irene Burgess 1943 (she was known as Gloria).

Our parents were divorced 1953 our sister Gertrude lived with our mother and Arvo Salo, dad raised Marie, Annette,Gloria as single parent on nantucket island, he was well respected by islanders.

children were gone, Ivanha Hannah was listed as servant, I was told a slave girl was raised and was close to Elizabeth, part of Elizabeth's dowery when she married was her friend the slave,
she became a household member and helped raise the children.
My grandfather was very fond of her.
