Afghan Women's Educational Center Kabul

AWEC's Educational & Recreational Centers for Worker Children in Kabul, Afghanistan provides literacy and recreational services for Worker Children in Kabul.

Worker children are children that are often the main bread winner of the family due to a disability or death of a family member. They work in vegetable markets, wash cars, small businesses, and sell phone cards, gum, cigarettes, etc in the street.

AWEC is a non profit official Afghan NGO that works for these children. Recently the Ministry of Education provided land for a model center to be built.

I am the fund raiser for the project and contributions are needed to build the Center. I am a semi retired educator that worked in Afghanistan from 1970 to 1974. All of my services and travel are at my expense. Up until December 2007 all of our contributions have come from school children, and interested adults. They have ranged from walk a thons to auctions to card sales. If you or your school is interested in more information on how you can help, please contact anna.hacker@gmail.com

I hope to hear from you regarding your interest and involvement in the Centers.
