ABOUT ME....
I have lived in Olive Branch, Mississippi for over 10 years
now, and my e-mail address is Angelaspiers@aol.com. I am a
teacher at White Station High School in Memphis, Tennessee,
where I teach English as a second language to Deaf/Hearing-
Impaired students. There are 65 Deaf students at White Station,
within a student population this year of 2,167...in a building
built for 1100 students. Sound familiar to anyone???
My journey in professional education began at Memphis
State University in 1977. I worked at Tennessee School for the
Deaf in Knoxville, Tennessee from 1982--1989 as a residential
counselor full-time, while finishing my undergraduate work at
the University of Tennessee. I graduated from UTK in December
1989, with a B.S. in Education, majoring in Deaf Education.
My own experience with technology is minimal. I am
fasinated with the impact of videoconferencing, among other
classroom innovations, for the Deaf Community. Since I have a
unique perspective given my work, I hope to gain more insights
into the psychology of visual learning systems from this
course. This class can also assist me from other teacher
perspectives on how everyone else is using technology in the
classroom. I look forward to working together on-line.
