In Memory of John Monroe Stanton


My Grandfather Mr. John Monroe Stanton III wad born on January 18.1917, to the Late John and Rosa Stanton in Tunnel Springs,Ala. He departed this life on November 1,2004 at 9:30 pm at his home.He was proceed in deaf by his parents,two sisters,Fannie Cater,and Elvira Stanton,three ,sons John C. Stanton,John Lett,And Willie Davison.My Grandfather spent most of his life in different parts of Monroe County;Peterman,Tunnel Springs,Ridge Road, and Coon trail. In 1955, he worked at a local saw mill called Gulf Lumber Co.He got his leg broke there,but he never stopped working. Later,we remeber him coming from the well and broke his leg again.At that time he had to have it amputated. He got stayed in the hopstial for a long time. When he frist came home he didn't want to walk with a crucht so he walked with the back of a chair.My gardmama would fuss and nhe would just say "Ah Ole Woman!" He never liked to take hand-outs, so he was determined to make it on his own.He started raising chickens,cows,etc,and driving people around on his mule and wagon for money.
