I have tried to make a home-page that will not only inspire, but also inform and provide useful links to the topics of my interest - Flying, Sailing, Formula 1-racing and Hot Rods - not neccessarlily in that order, though !!. My name is Anders Thorsland and I am a line-Captain flying the Boeing MD-83 for Crossair here in Zurich, Switzerland. We call this particular airplane the McPlane. Read a technical resume I have made about the MD-80. The MD-80-series airplanes are born in the 60's. Read more about the "new" MD-80" - the Boeing 717. As Crossair is a fully owned daughter-company of Swissair; the crash of the MD-11 with flight-number SR-111 close to Halifax, Nova Scotia last September has affected us in the company also to a great deal. Accidents always makes pilots and passengers, as well as most people involved in aviation - think more about our own reactions and pre-flight-preparations. What can WE do to improve passenger and airplane safety ? It still is a fact that the most dangerous part of an airplane-journey is the car-ride to and from the airport. When we are in the air we are surrounded by professionals with the same interest and standards - not by some strange driver trying to kill himself and take as many as possible with him on the road.

Linn Kristin is my daughter. She is born 24.July 1989 - already a big girl and very, VERY dear to us all !! Here is a drawing she has made.
And Else and Björn, my parents in their right surroundings - the mountains on holidays. My mother Else died in 21.November 1996, but my father Björn is still around in Skien, Norway. My mother was good with her hands - a master-weaver - here is one of her creations !!
