ALYSSA'S GYMNASTICS SITE

...ALYSSA PROKOW...16...a JO LEVEL 10 GYMNAST, is a tiny package of STRENGTH, POWER & TALENT, consistently qualifying to State Championships each year since 2001, and Regional One Championships since 2004! ...She trains more than 30 hrs/wk. year round at DESERT DEVILS GYMNASTICS. She is a HIGH HONOR ROLL student and was named to the NATIONAL JR HONOR SOCIETY in 2006 at WESTERN SKY Middle School. Alyssa will be a Junior at Millenium High School this Fall. She continues her academic achievements along with GYMNASTICS. In all HONORS classes , ALYSSA maintains a 3.5 GPA. She is hoping to make J.O Nationals in 2009 and secure a college GYMNASTICS scholarship!

UPDATES & NEWSFLASH...
Under strict Doctor's orders Alyssa was sidelined for the '08 competitive season due to an injury that came close to ending her GYMNASTICS career in May 2007! Some naysayers, predicted Alyssa would never do gymnastics again! SHE IS OUT TO PROVE THEM WRONG!

***Jan'08...She resumed partial training(12-20 hrs/wk)once again after 6 months of intense physical therapy... Thank you MIKE, SHANNON & all your staff @ CONTINUUM WELLNESS!

***May '08 Alyssa has resumed full training once again (30 hrs+/week) She is making EXCELLENT Progress for her plans of a comeback in the January 2009 competitive season! LOOK FOR HER at USA Gym meets in WINTER 2009!... IF YOU DO, I GUARANTEE YOU WILL MAKE HER DAY!

***ALYSSA's first success began in 2002 becoming ARIZONA'S LEVEL 5 STATE CHAMPION on BARS, BEAM & ALL AROUND at 9yrs/old. In 2003, she finished LEVEL 7 with a SILVER medal on BEAM at the LEVEL 7 AZ STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS. Oct. 2003, she qualified/competed at NATIONAL TOPS TESTING at the famous BELA KARROLI RANCH,TX. Competing at Levels 8 and 9 followed for ALYSSA in 2004 and 2005. ALYSSA moved up to LEVEL 10 in 2006. At the 2006 Level 10 AZ STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS, ALYSSA placed 2nd on Bars & Floor, 3rd on VAULT, and 4th AA. She qualified to REGIONAL Championships, placing 10th on BEAM and BARS.

...In the Summer/Fall '06, ALYSSA faced a challenging hip injury. Sports Rehab and recovery became her focus until early Dec. almost missing a fast approaching '07 season. Through her hard work, ALYSSA fought back, making a comeback. With the help of her coaches, she regained her gymnastics skills getting ready for the NEW SEASON...Sitting out the first 2 meets, Alyssa began in Feb., competing on just one event, her favorite...UNEVEN BARS! Slowly adding event, after event to her routines at each successive meet, she made her final preparation and comeback to compete all 4 (VAULT, BARS, BEAM and FLOOR)just in time for the 2007 AZ STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS late March, winning 3rd place on Floor Exercise. It was there that she helped her DESERT DEVILS team-mates win 1st Place at the LEVEL 10 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS! ALYSSA also qualified to REGIONALS, a distant dream 3 months earlier!
