A Long Stay Retirement Village for Seniors
A Long Stay is designed to provide a home like environment for independent seniors. We are small and want to keep the home like environment. There will only be 12 permanent residents.
All living spaces are private. They have outside entrances and private baths. There are 5 cottages, which have complete kitchens. Residents may choose to cook their own meals or eat all of their meals in the main house dining room. There are 5 efficiency apartments, which are equipped with a small refrigerator and microwave. The residents in these apartments eat three meals a day in the main house where the meals are served in the dining room around a large dining table. When residents are not feeling well or there is inclement weather, all meals can be delivered to their apartments. Meal times are some of the best social time here. There is a lot of lively discussion, and story telling. Just like home.
The setting at A Long Stay establishes a home like atmosphere and yet each person has his or her own privacy. The main house is available all day and into early evening for the residents to come in and read, play the piano, listen to music, visit with their neighbors, put puzzles together, play dominos, etc.
For those residents that no longer drive A Long Stay provides transportation to doctors and shopping at HEB and WalMart once a week as well as one miscellaneous trip of the residents choice.
We have 4 full time staff and 3 part-time helpers. All apartments are cleaned once a week. The bed linens and personal laundry of each resident is done each week. We do not do ironing.
Once a week a nurse from Home Health Care visits to do a health check. The nurse also set up medications for those that need help in remembering when to take them. A Long Stay will see that the midications are delivered to the residents as recommended by the doctor.
In addition to the services provided by A Long Stay, the property is absolutely beautiful and many of the residents have started their own flower gardens, and also have made a community vegetable garden. Some of the residents have their own pets. (Small ones no larger than 40 lbs.) Others have volunteered to water plants and feed the deer. We try to keep busy and active.
We can accept insurance companies if the residents have long term health care. However, most of our residents are private pay.
To move in we require a non-refundable deposit of $750. It becomes non-refundable on the day you move in. If there is a pet involved, an additional $150 non-refundable deposit is required. The resident is totally responsible for the animal's care and clean up after it.
The minimum rate is $2,000 per month and the rate increases depending on the services required.
A Long Stay is located on the outskirts of historical Boerne, Texas and is nestled on 4 gorgeous acres set among beautiful live oak trees. The grounds and living facilities are comprised of historical and new buildings reminiscent of an old South Texas ranch.
