The Story of Alma Gerstenkorn
"Unshackled!" is the longest running dramatic series in radio history. Aired first in 1950 over a single radio station in Chicago, it is now heard worldwide over 1600 outlets. It presents the true stories of real people who have had life changing encounters with God. Some of the stories feature direct involvement with the turbulent and stressful period during and following World War II.
Such is the case with Alma Gerstenkorn. She was a member of a German family living in Poland when it was overrun by the Russian army toward the end of World War II. Separated from her family and deported to East Germany, she later escaped to West Germany, married, and became a born-again Christian. Through the sponsorship of a religious organization, she and her husband were able to emigrate to the United States.
