UPDATE OF LATEST MISSIONS TRIPS April, 2000
Our most recent trip into St. Rafael Baptist Clinic has been a success. The cement mixer is once again up and running, as is the 4-wheeler used for transportation and transporting there on the hospital compound. The X-ray equipment is once again operational. The team was able to complete all the roof sections of the main hospital building, Phase II, complete the roof and hang windows and doors on the guest house, as well as pour a porch and steps on the guest house. The work remaining on the guest house includes the block walls (being done by the Haitians in our absence), as well as all the wall work in the main hospital building. Once these projects are under way, it will be time to start Phase III--the last 50 feet of concrete floors, pillars, beams, roofs, and walls of the hospital. Paul Whitfield, the chief engineer and architect, anticipates the completion of Phase II in 2000, the completion of Phase III in 2001. Much work remains to be done!!!
The next team will be going to Haiti toward the end of the summer, though no date has been fixed, yet. Stay in tune.
UPDATE ON FAMILY
Bryan will be finishing his junior year at Bob Jones in the Missions Major. He is making plans, raising support, and working, to be in Benin for an 8-week period this summer as part of his major requirements.
Joshua is finishing up his sophomore year as a Pre-Med major. He will be going to Haiti for several weeks this summer to work with Dr. Anne Livingston and her clinic. This is the same clinic that Daddy has been working on these last years!
Jonathan and Kristi will be home, though it sounds like Jonathan will be busy cutting grass with his lawn mowing business. He is hoping to pick up a used truck to help him with this work.
Diane is busy working at BiLo several days of the week, and being Mom, taxidriver, laundry clerk, etc. the other eight days of the week!
Denny is still working at Roger C. Peace Hospital in Greenville, completing six years. Surgery is still his first love in that regard (to better prepare for Africa!).
Of course, Michelle and Michael are enjoying married life, and are busy at their tasks: Michelle works as a florist here in Greenville, and Michael is a youth Pastor at Westgate Baptist Church in Spartanburg.
