The Kingdom of Istandar

The Tandar were an ancient people from the southern steppes and once rivaled the Vilani for control of Humankind. Subdued and incorporated into the Imperium, they managed to keep their culture alive until the Cataclysm, when they threw off the Vilani yoke and returned to the god-king method of their heritage. There are six cities in Istandar, and each are dedicated to a god of the Istandarii pantheon. Somewhat Babylonian in their culture, they have spent the past 50 years in a fruitless attempt to conquer the Khosian nomads to their south. Now, they have decided that the northern lands of Eastgard may be more to their liking.

GOVERNMENT: The six cities of Istandar (Isenwald, Anlynrise, Dalreaata, Yorque, Korlyn, and Ishtariopolis are each dedicated to one of the gods of their pantheon:

Ishtariopolis: dedicated to Ishtar, and the Goddess-Queen currently rules all of Istandar as Ishtar IV.
Located in center of Kingdom, 49 miles from Mardukosis, the old capitol leveled in ancient times by the Vilani.

Isenwald: dedicated to Marduk, God of justice. This is a new city, seized only recently from Eastgard and dedicated to that God. IT is located near the border with Eastgard in the Northeast woods.

Anlynrise: dedicated to Inanna, love aspect of Ishtar.
This city is notorious for decadence and is located in the Northwest, near the Halfling Cantons.

Dalreaata: dedicated to Ramman, god of storms (port). This port city is located in the Southwest on the Western Sea.

Yorque: Dedicated to Girru, god of fire. This city is located near the Kosian Desert in the Southeast.

Korlyn: dedicated to Anu, god of the sky. This rich mining city is located in the East at the foot of the Shield Mountains.

MILITARY: Istandar fight in levies drawn up by the warriors of each city and their retainers. They have 3 standing armies of about 1000 troops each (Khosian army, Ostander Army, and the Militates of Ishtar). Each city jealously guards their right to control their own levies, and frequently this bickering defeats more Istandar armies than any enemy host. They have a small navy, but only use it to guard their northern coast against the Exarchate. They have few ships on their southern coast, since only privateers are of concern in this region.
