My Stash Bash 2 Memories
All the preparations had been made to go the 392.46 miles from Lewiston Maine to Red Bank New Jersey. It was Friday night I was going to be picked up tomorrow morning. I tried to get some sleep but the anticipation of the fourth coming road trip was all I could think about. I got what little sleep I could I woke up at seven am on Saturday. I didn't know what time Riley would be picking me up. So I turned on my computer to check the board one last time and check my email. Riley had emailed me and told me she would be over to pick me up she would be over 930-10 am to pick me up. I can hardly wait. I am finishing up some stuff around my apt. To get ready to leave. She shows up we pack up the car and are ready to go. The trip is underway, Riley and I have never met in person before today. She introduces me to her sister who was not invited to the Bash but was coming along for the ride. The drive will take 6-7 hours so there is a lot of time to get to know each other. We talk about everything and anything. The next thing I know we are pulling in to the parking lot of the Holiday Inn. We go check in. I called my Roommate, Alan, to tell him he could come check in. I am chilling in the room when Alan shows up. We talked for a while and then Riley called and I asked if she wanted to go get something to eat at the hotel bar. As Riley her sister Alan and my self are chilling eating. That’s when it happened, Karla, Runshouse, and Shags and her BF show up so I get to meet them. Karla and I have been chatting off the board for a while so it was really nice to meet her. We finished eating then we up to our rooms to chill before the big bowling party. Alan and I talked for a little then the phone rang Riley wanted to go bowling so we left for the big party.
After getting slightly lost we find the bowling ally. The line was around the bowling ally. It was wild. The line started moving and we get to the door and THE MAN is working the door handing out special buttons. I say hi to Ming get my pin and enter the ally. The place was PACKED I bowl one game and do horrible (I get a 50). I decide to mingle and see what is going on. I bump into the very sweet and very attractive Amy Noble. (The good ones are always taken) We talk about “The Biz” She was so sweet and I got my picture taken with her. I mingle around some more and see Brian O’Halloran Standing by himself I don't see a crowd around him. I walk up to him and shake his hand and say hi. He said, “I think you just cut in line.” I looked up and saw this long line. Brian said, “I don't mind but they might.” I said, “Yes they look like a motley crew.” I told him I just wanted to say hi and that I would see him tomorrow.
I went to the bar to get a drink for Karla and that's when I saw I sight I was very happy to see. The Yankees loose the World Series. I come back from the bar to see Jennifer Schwalbach in the lane where we were bowling. I was hemming and hawing about asking her for a picture but the people I had been bowling with were asking so I asked. She was very sweet and said yes. We bowled until the lights were turned on. We went back to the hotel and we heard there was going to be a party in the infamous room 204. An and I went down there and didn't hear anything going on so we went up to our room and we heard something going on in room 307 so we knocked on the door and were invited in that’s when Alan and I met Gabe. Gabe is a boy I won’t soon forget. After the party died down we went to the infamous room 204 where it looked like we had missed all the fun. We hung out there for a while had some of Karla’s Cookies. We had fun in Room 204 till everyone seemed to have run out of party steam. I was really tired from the bowling and the long drive down wandered off to bed at four am with the fall back was more like five am. Along the way Alan and I picked up a third roommate who didn't have a room (Mike in MN)
I woke up at eight am and couldn't fall back asleep. So I got up left a note for my roommate telling them I went down to get something to eat. I was hoping that I would see another Stash Basher but I had no luck they were all recovering from the nights activities. I said fuck my diet and ate a big meal knowing that today is the day we will be making the rounds to the Quick Stop and some of the other movie spots. When I get back to the room my roommates are awake. We watch some of the footage that Mike shot. It was good it was funny to see Mike asking Ming what's going on and if he can get in. We pick up a fourth person and we bump into Karla on the way out. She gave us the Directions to the Quick Stop and told us how to get there. When we finally get there (we forgot to take the left on Lenord Ave) I almost expect to see Jay and Silent Bob out front. I go in and walk around a bit I take a picture of the milk and the eggs. I ask the guy working if I can get a picture of me behind the counter. He said no but I could stand in front of the counter. I get my picture taken. We go out side to get some pictures then we head back to Red Bank so we can see some of the sights. We park in the parking lot and start walking to the stash to check it out. We see the line of people and I think to my self that I will soon be in that line. We find out that they are running behind I was worried that by the time they got to my group (the last one) that everyone would be like zombies.
We decide to check out the train station from Chasing Amy then we decide to go to Jack’s Music Shoppe also from Chasing Amy. We are walking around inside the store and I see a guy behind the counter I think we looks familiar. We get talking about what's going on this weekend. We both agree that Kevin is a real nice guy and then he tells me he was an extra in Chasing Amy. I ask if I can get my picture with him he invites me behind the counter and I get my picture. Mike and I are looking at CD’s then he comes up and give us a couple of tee shirts that say Jack’s Music Shoppe on them. I was like cool free shawg Mike and I thanked him then we bought a CD to say think you. Then we go to the car to drop off the stuff so Alan can get in line. I run into Riley with whom I hadn't talked to sense bowling last night. We move all my stuff to her car as I had already checked out of the hotel. We tell her that they are running behind but we decide to get in line anyway and wait with everyone else. It reminded me of a rock concert and people waiting to get in to see their favorite rock star. While we were waiting Brian O’Halloran would come out every once and a while to keep the large crowed entertained. He starts in on this kid that had come with his grandparents. I go to watch what is going on. It looks like something out of 8 Mile Brian would say something to insult the kid the kid would come back with something. He ended up going in early so he could get up on Monday to go his private school in the morning. Brian O’Halloran went in with the group but them he came back out after a while. I said it must feel good besting a 12-year-old boy. The crowed went ooohhhh. He was like;" You want to start some shit now motherfucker!” I said," Bring it on Bitch.” All I remember about what happened in the next few min was Brian said something I said something back then he said. “When you get some glasses from this decade then you can talk.” I had just been knocked out I was flat on the canvas looking up at the ring lights wondering what just happened. I felt like I got in the ring with Mike Tyson with no training at all. I do want it noted for the record I was going on very little sleep and was exhausted from the day. The last group was waiting to go in and it started to sprinkle and I thought great this is all I need to get soaked before I go in and have my picture taking with everyone. God was nice to us as he just teased us with rain but he held it off till we went in. Thanks God I owe you one.
We finally get in and it is like St. Peter opening the gates of Heaven. God er I mean Kevin was greeting everyone at the door. We were told to line up at the back near the Bluntmobile then that's where we meet the reason this party is taking place Mr. Jason Mews. I gave him my gift an autographed picture of ME! a postcard with a thank you note on it and a tape of my favorite scenes on it. He signed my stuff and then I had my picture taken with him. Then Kevin Came down I gave him my gift and then he signed my stuff. We started talking and all I really remember about what happened while I was talking with him was I acting like a really big pussy and started crying and said to him, “I know you are a humble guy but I really enjoy your work.” Then I got my picture taken with him. The rest of the night was spent wandering around mingling with the Viewaskview staff and the Stash staff and spending too much money. After a while of spending money Kevin Rounded us up to tell us what would be happening next. We were going to see some stuff from his up coming movie Jersey Girl. I mist say this movie is going to be a good one. Jen and Ben’s on screen chemistry was definitely there. I am going to have to see it three times once with my Viewaskview friends, once with my girlfriend and once with my best friend Tim (who didn't get an invite to the bash haha).
I think the thing that stuck in my mind the most about the weekend was the since of family. It was there from the people attending as well as the people from Viewaskview It was like attending a huge family reunion. Everyone was friendly and down to earth. Amy Noble may I say thank you again for being such a sweetheart. I hope your husband knows what a lucky man he is. Ming Words cannot describe how grateful I am to you. The weekend was awesome thank you. Walt thanks for running a great store and signing my stuff and letting me gat my picture with you. Brian O’Halloran thanks for letting me chat with you as long as I did. Thank you for the shit you gave me part of the reason I could say anything back was I was laughing to hard. Bryan Johnson thanks for just being so cool (if you ever do Vulgar2 the Clown Strikes Back please keep me in mind:) ). Jennifer Schwalbach thank you for being so kind and sweet and keeping the big guy in line. To Kevin thank you for being so down to earth and friendly. Sorry if I embarrassed you by being a big pussy. Jason thanks for getting sober so we could have a party with you. Just remember life is a four-letter word, and the road to recovery is a life ling process. Keep up the good work.
