"DID YOU KNOW" ........"Tangier Island Virginia USA in the Chesapeake Bay 12 miles from Crisfield "Crabtown" Maryland USA was discovered one year after Jamestown Virginia USA was founded? And, Captain John Smith explored the Chesapeake Bay in 1608 and noted the existence of a string of islands, one being Tangier Island. John Crockett from Cornwall ENGLAND settled the island in 1686 with his sons and their families. In the early 1800's half of the 100 people living on Tangier Island were named Crockett. The British used the island during the War of 1812 as a staging area for the British squadron that raided towns and plantations on the banks of the Chesapeake Bay and the City of Baltimore Maryland USA in September of 1814. Today Tangier Island is comprised of several small islands stretching about 3.5 miles in length by less than 1.5 miles wide. Most of the space is unusable. A total of 250 houses are located on a series of three ridges none more than seven feet above sea level. It is a place out of the past. If you visit Tangier Island today you will find most of the 700 inhabitants have the surnames of the early settlers such as THOMAS - EVANS - PRUITT - PARKS - and - CROCKETT.

fyi..."On December 27th, 2011 I fell on back steps and fractured my left ankle bones. I had surgery and was told it may take two or three months to heal properly. I am wearing a "boot type" support now. Thank the Lord each day gets better. I am Thankful for my Dear Faithful-Good Wife/Nurse for being with me to help. Also Thankful for my Family, Friends, hospitals, doctors, nurses, staff and their Professional help. God Bless You All"
