The South Dakota 5/35 Lottery or Dakota Cash is drawn twice a week every Wednesday and Saturdays. As of June 10, 2009, there is a total of 1125 winning number sets. The jackpot starts at $20,000 and will increase if there is no winner after the draw. A person can win as much as $100,000 if there are no winners in the last draw.

It is easy to play Dakota Cash. Choose five numbers from one (1) to thirty-five (35) or let the computer or terminal choose for you via "Quick Pick". During the draw, you can win $1 if you get 2 out of 5 numbers, $3 if you get 3 out of 5 numbers, $100 if you get 4 out of 5 numbers and the jackpot if you get all five numbers correctly. And with only $1 per play, it is relatively cheap that you can bet as much and as frequently as you want.

Rather than wasting your money choosing random numbers to use for play, you need to get smart and try to choose the numbers that would be most likely to be drawn in the next drawings. The important thing to remember is to realize which number combination should be chosen to get a better chance of winning.

One of the most common ways to choose the right numbers is to note down the frequency of which the number comes out. Most likely on the next draw, these will be the numbers that would be coming out again. Take careful note of the frequency of each number during each week. Mix and match the most frequent to the moderately frequent to the least frequent numbers. A good example of this is to check out the numbers in the last 35 draws. The numbers that were frequently out at least five times during those draws would be the mostly likely bet to come out again. Try getting the numbers that have been out the most, but add one or two numbers that are the least frequent to come out. Also try a different combination of numbers that have been frequently showing in the draws. Do not use the exact same number combination as the previous draw because it is most likely not to come out.

Also, try to spread the numbers out. Do not pick numbers that are close together or are next to each other. The possibility of consecutive numbers coming out at the same draw is really low. Add a different combination of high and low numbers and spread them apart. But try not to use number multiples. In most cases, these number combinations do not come out. The chances of winning if you choose these types of numbers are really low. Try spreading the numbers apart in such a way that they are still random.

But always remember that in choosing the right numbers for Dakota Cash you must go back to the basic and check the frequency of the numbers that come out. The chances of winning by learning how frequent the number comes out during the draws would give you a better chance of winning the jackpot.

Odd or Evens in the Powerball lottery

One factor to consider in picking your Powerball lottery numbers is the ratio between the odd / even lotto numbers.

Looking at the past history of all lottery games there appears a pattern that shows you would be better off by not playing all odd or all even numbers.

Example of playing all even numbers 2.4.6.20.40

Example of playing all odd balls 3.11.21.35.47

For the last 290 Powerball games reviewed as of 6/9/08

*********************************************

Powerball Odd/even combo analysis

*********************************************

play mix hits

5 odd 0 even 9 as a percentage 3.10 %

4 odd 1 even 38 as a percentage 13.10 %

3 odd 2 even 88 as a percentage 30.34 %

2 odd 3 even 106 as a percentage 36.55 %

1 odd 4 even 39 as a percentage 13.45 %

0 odd 5 even 10 as a percentage 3.45 %

********************************************

Looking at the table above, you may improve your odds by playing either 3 odd /2 even or 2 odd / 3 even. These rations accounted for almost 2/3 of all past
winners.

30.34 + 36.55 = 66.8%

Or almost 2/3 of past winning number sets follow this rule.

These Powerball lotto ratios are always changing, but this pattern does occur across all Powerball lotto / lottery games.

What states/jurisdictions participate in the Powerball lottery?
