I have found that one of the best ways to save is watching what you buy.I too am guilty of buying items out of impulse."Things that I had nevered intended to purchase."Retailers have this planned just for you so they will display high profit items in their aisle or on the end displays of an aisle in hopes of you buying those items.Most likely something you never intended to purchase or really didn't need.This is money in THEIR BANK ACCOUNT.Do your best to pass up those special displays and put the savings in YOUR BANK ACCOUNT!
The best way I have found(and it works) to avoid impulse buying is to shop on a weekly basis.You will need to make a weekly grocery shopping list of all your needs.After you have made a weekly shopping list you will need to check your local newspaper for grocery store ads.Check to see if any of the items on your list are on sale at one of your local grocers.If so you would purchase it at the least expensive store.NOTE:There are many different stores and they will compete against each other through newspaper ads trying to get your business.So use that to your advantage and shop where the prices are lower.
Many times (most all of the time) you can find items of comparible value to match an item that is on your list without giving up the quality you are used to.For example:.B. Paper towels may be on your list but not on sale and regular price may be $1.29.If V. Paper towels are on sale at .79 cents you would purchase that one and you would save .50 cents.Thats .50 cents on substituting just one item.So you will need to do this as much as possible and you will Save A Bundle.If quality of a product is not an issue you can save even more by purchasing house brand items.This will truly save a great deal of money.
Now for the greatest savings ever invented.Manufacturers Coupons.Retailers use this tool a great deal to try and capture your business.Take advantage of it and use it in every way possible.Coupons come in many different denomations.Yes I say denomations,because retailers handle their coupons just like cash.Actually for them it is.They will deduct the specified amount off of your grocery bill and then they have to submit the coupons to individual manufacters and in turn get their money reimbursed.So they are actually cold,hard cash.As i said they come in dfferent values ranging from 10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50 and so on.Some as much or more than a dollar.
If you will shop around you find that stores are offering single,double,and even triple value for coupons.This is really great savings.Triple value for a 50cent coupon means you will save a $1.50.This is $1.50 off of your grocery bill before you ever pay!If you would use just ten .50 coupons a week for a year you would save$260.00 and that is at face value.If you get double the face value you would have saved $520.00 in a year.If you were to get triple the face value you would have saved $780.00.Yes $780.00 for using just ten .50 cent coupons in a whole year.The best part of it all is you can use all the coupons you want as long as you are purchasing the specified item.Coupons can be used in any combination.You may take two 10cent,four 35cent,seven 40cent or whatever combination suits your needs.Anyway you can see if you use other coupons along with the ten 50cent coupons you can save well over a thousand dollars a year.So as you can see more you USE the more you will SAVE.This savings is yours to keep in your own bank account.Note also that grocery retailers will do there biggest avertising in the Sunday newspapers.That is why you find coupon inserts in Sunday news ads.So take advantage of it and use all of them you need.
