I am Keith Skillicorn, a retired, former RAAF aeronautical electrical fitter, now living in
AUSTRALIA
and who is just crazy about aeroplanes. It was while serving in
THE ROYAL AUSTRALIAN AIRFORCE
that I caught the bug. If you read our (jointly I wrote it with Ruth, my wife) thrilling autobiography "AN IMPOSSIBLE DREAM" you will understand why flying means so much to me, not that I was a pilot, but rather, one who went up on numerous test flights, checking aircraft electrical systems but, in particular, the Curtis Electric Feathering gear of the Bristol Beaufort Bomber. Another favourite plane I serviced ( the electrical systems ) and in which I had many enjoyable and thrilling flights especially - the DOUGLAS DC-3 "Dakota" / C-47. This was the transport "work-horse" of the RAAF and stories relating to this famous plane are legend and you would find it exciting to read of the ROLE PLAYED BY THE DC-3 DURING WORLD WAR 2. I also serviced VULTEE VENGEANCE DIVE BOMBERS the FAIREY BATTLE FIGHTER BOMBERS and the famous CONSOLIDATED B-24 "LIBERATOR", the P-51 MUSTANGthe BOSTON BOMBERthe B25 MITCHELL and many other types such as, Avro Ansons, Airspeed Oxfords, Spitfires, Kittyhawks, Wirraways etc. etc.
One of the most remarkable aircraft in which I have travelled is the Boeing 747. During the course of our travels around the world, many times I flew in Boeing 747's , 707's, 757's, 767's and earlier, also the 727's with their three engines. Before I finally "retire" I want to fly at least once in the BOEING 777, the first to be designed wholly on computer. Three cheers for the BOEING 777and the new 747-8 and 787- WOW !

AIRCRAFT ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY - now this is where I really feel at home, because, for four years, I worked in the Air Force on the electrical systems of so many different aircraft, one of my favourites being that Consolidated B - 24 "Liberator" which served well in the defence of Australia in World War 2. I loved to work on its electrical systems and go up on testing flights; check out more of this fine Consolidated B-24 "Liberator" bomber.
