Operation Italy Christian Mission, Inc. is an Independent Spirit-filled non-profit corporation organized in November 1984 under the charitable corporation laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and exempt from income taxes under the revenue laws of the United States of America. The corporation is currently active in the province of Frosinone, Italy.
In May 1980, God called my family to the ministry of evangelism and church-planting in the province of Frosinone Italy. We moved to the mission field in July 1985.
Frosinone is a province whose center is about 50 Miles South-East of Rome. The province has ninety-one cities, towns and villages, where over 500,000 people live. Only 500 of them are born-again Christians. We have our missionary base in the main city - also named Frosinone - which has about 50.000 people.
This land is tough to "till". The statistics say that there are over 100,000 consulting magicians, witches and fortune-tellers in the country, and most of the Italian people consult them at least once in their life-time, yet strangely enough, these same people are fearful of ridicule from family and friends, should they accept Christ in their hearts as Savior and Lord. And please, don't take some of the news you may have heard or read about the Catholic Charismatics as if they were getting saved, or that they have any intention to stop worshiping Mary and their various saints. 99% of that it's a "smoke-screen", and some of our American friends have believed that! This gives you an idea of how great our task is. It looks almost impossible in out human understanding. But knowing the omnipotence of our God, we'll go on as instruments in his hands - with his help and your prayers - to accomplish his sovereign plan.
Although we now operate as an independent ministry, we feel united with all churches, ministries and fellowships of like-faith which believe in salvation by grace throught faith in Christ.
When God called me to the ministry in May 1980, we were active members of the Christian Pentecostal Church which is affiliated with the Christian Church of North America, a sister body of the Assemblies of God (mostly of Italian descent). After the call of God upon my life, I realized my need for Bible instruction. I was encouraged to enroll at the Berean School of the Bible (Assemblies of God), from which I earned a Diploma in Ministerial Studies, required for ordination, plus a Certification in Missionary Principles. Before our departure for the mission field, I served the Billy Graham organization in the Boston MA area, as a telephone and crusade counselor. I also served as a telephone counselor for the 700 Club (CBN), for two and one half years, and as an associate Pastor and Minister to the Italian people, at the Central Assembly of God in East Boston MA.
Unfortunately, when the time came for us to go to the mission field, we found out that the Foreign Mission Department policies didn't agree with the call of God upon our lives. We then decided to sell our house in Massachusetts and came to Italy by faith, trusting God for our daily needs.
By the grace of God we have been here in the province of Frosinone since July 1985. Sometimes we have been required to operate with only one quarter of our monthly necessities. Even now, in 2001, we are still struggling with the temporal needs of the ministry. But God is faithful, and He will never forsake us. We have been graced to plant three independent churches and to start two home Bible-study groups. Praise His Holy Name!!!
There are about 500 born-again Christians in this province, but only 15 of the 91 communities have any of these disciples living among them. The other 76 have no abiding witness.
Unless we can soon reach the people of Frosinone with the gospel, 99.9% of them will eventually die unsaved! We urgently need the prayers and financial support of all the born again christians who have the same passion for souls that we do.
Our immediate goal is to put together and train a group of six young people, who will help us put Gospel literature in every home in the province. We will follow them with public preaching of the Gospel in the main squares of the towns; with tent meetings; with the movie, "Jesus"; and with Dramas. We will then do follow-up on those souls who have either accepted Christ in their own hearts or at least have shown some interest and desire to know more about God. The task is not an easy one, but the Lord is saying, "The fields are white and ready for the harvest." Would you please help us fulfill God's calling? Would you pray earnestly for us and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in a decision of joyful giving for this ministry?
