Yes, these killings still go on and few, if any of the criminals involved, serve the sentence they deserve. Some are not even taken to court. The United Nations and the International Court of Justice and Human Rights seems to have no concern for this barbarity, even though India is a Memner of the United Nations.

The world's compassionate people are still suffering shock after learning of the sufferings of women in Islam - (eg. in Afghanistan, Sudan, Iran, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Pakistan etc ),however, when one examines the "holy" scriptures of Hinduism, women are regarded with even more disrespect and were treated even more cruely than in Islam. Sadly, there are religious male chauvinists in India today, with growing strength in the states of Gujerat and Maharashtra, who would be happy to reintroduce the crime of SATI. Even if only to preserve their own dignity and the very lives of their grand-daughters, women should do all within their power to prevent the resurgence of Hinduism.
TREATMENT OF WOMEN FAR WORSE IN HINDUISM THAN IN ISLAM !!
Thanks to the Taliban and the monsters who rule Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Nigeria etc., we have seen something of the barbaric "Shariah" Law treatment metered out to women by the male god, Allah, in Islam, however, Hinduism, through its "holy" scriptures, treats women with even more contempt and brutality. The desire to have these diabolically barbaric practices reintroduced, are very much alive in the minds and desires of chauvinistic religionists, particularly in Maharashtra and Gujerat States.
