All spirituality began in Africa, because that is where human kind began. African spiritual traditions have not changed much in about 5000 years. That is because they WORK. African spiritual practices direct their efforts to the invidual as a whole, really the first example of holistic medicine. The spirits of these traditions, whether they are called Orishas, Vouduns, Mpungos or Loas are extremely powerful and work for the betterment of humanity.
