56k V.90 modem speed problems? Frequent disconnections or very slow modem speed? How do you fix it
without buying a new modem?
A very common problem is that your phone line is not 56k compatible. That happened to me with
my 56k Lucent Winmodem. So in that regard you're out of luck but you can optimize
your modem, computer, and Windows system to perform together more optimally.
The difference is noticeable right away. I'm much happier. I still don't get 56k speeds,
but things are so much faster that I'm satisfied.
The solution is so simple but the settings that need to be adjusted are beyond the
average computer user. Thankfully, you don't need to know anything about Max MTU or PMTU
(Path Max Transfer Unit), TTL (Time to Live), RWIN (Receive Window), etc. This software will
adjust the settings correctly. It's very nice!
