WELCOME TO 3RD OLDHAM GUIDES
Hey there Guiding buddies!! We are a unit from Oldham, near Manchester, and have decided to take a step up into the technological world.We are a dynamic, enthusistic unit with a great many girls (it seems). We have 3 patrols, Dolphins, Pandas and Parrots with 5 -6 girls in each.
Camping has always been my great passion in Guiding, I'm sure many of you will agree, and this summer we embarked upon our biggest adventure yet;an international camp. It was held at Bowley Scout camp, near Waddow in Blackburn and brought together guides from England, Canada, the USA and Japan. It was great fun hearing how Guiding is alive all over the world, but the highlight of the week was definitely the Japanese guides "Oha" song (apologies if I can't spell that) which we made them perform at least twice a night!!It was a fantastic week, and for many of our girls, it was their first camping experience. Incidentally, if there is anybody out there who shared this wonderful week, or anyone involved in Guiding, I'd love to hear from you, my email address is at the bottom of the page.
Returning to more mundane matters, it's almost Christmas, which of course means the Christmas party, stay tuned for details.
I'd just like to say a huge hello and congratulations to two people from our unit: Amy who has just been awarded her Baden Powell award, and Louise who has just got engaged! I grew up in Guiding with these guys, and I just want you to know that I love you!!
