Me and the old man had been talking about doing up an EK for years it took us 3 years to find this one in that time we went and looked at 4 and i rang up and missed out on few we got the chance of getting this on it wasnt the best on we seen but after eirther being out bidded or the owner being to greedy, wanting more cash than i had but anyway we seen this ek it was all there most pieces i wanted anyway all of them worn out ,rusted but all there the old bloke we got him off said that it had been his daughters car and that it had sat in his garge for 8 years he had $800 on it checky old prick everything on it is/was rusted worn out craked broken we ended up beatin him down to $600 and leaving with the ek.
We got it home and started pulling it to pieces and finding rust and more rust we always knew there was rust the add said rust so there werent any suprises there. First we started with easy rust repairs the hanging panels guards doors bonnet there was no rust in the bonnet or boot so there was only a few dint in each the bottoms of the doors required a bit of attention as with the guards after we got through the hanging panels we started on the body floor first we welded in rare spares inserts and made the rest in between with a series of sections we made the rare spares inserts rust replacement section so to say go in pretty well overall we go about the methood of sit them in place hold them as close as you can to where there going to sit mark around the edge,undrill all spot welds in ribs under section your removing cut out the section with a mixture of 5 inch angle grider 4" angle grider chiesal drill and gas axe once hole is cut to basic shape try fix rares insert trim up hole till you have floor pan sitting in with an almost butt fit all round screw pan to ribs with some meat eating screws rember a small gap is good now once satisfied with fit of floor pan.
fire up oxy and tack in the best fitting corner checking all the groves are lined up, move over to next corner bang it where you want it tack check middel of same edge between corners if good take move to next corner fit it tack it once floor pan is tack in on all edges before it is weld in fully make shaw the floor pan is down hard to the ribs then weld the all the way round hammering the edges together as you go .
