BROCK- Brock is the leader of the Pewter City gym. He uses the rock pokemon Onix and Geodude. Make sure to have a grass, water, or Pidgey that knows sand attack with you. When it seems hopeless, keep using sand attack until Brock's pokemon can't hit squat. Then, start attacking! Once you defeat him, you get the Boulder Badge and you can use flash at any time.
MISTY- Misty is the gym leader of Cerulean City. She uses the water pokemon Staryu and Starmie. Be sure to have an electric pokemon when you go to beat her. The only tip I can give is to be careful: her Starmie won't die easily and it keeps using bubblebeam.Once you beat her, you get the Cascade Badge and are able to use cut outside of battle.
LT. SURGE- Lt. Surge is the gym leader of Vermilion city. He uses the electric pokemon Raichu. Use a Diglett or Dugtrio that knows dig and he will be defeated easily. Once you defeat him, you get the Thunder Badge. It lets you use fly outside of battle.
