Life Cycle 'Believe & Succeed' over 1400km
“ may be the biggest mountain bike I’ll ever take on in my life, Dare to dream”.
In partnership with major sponsors and a local charity, Ben Ray along with the support of friends and family will be leaving Southport, QLD on the Monday 5th January 2004 on an epic journey down the east coast of Australia travelling north to south by bicycle. My aim is to arrive back in Albury, N.S.W by the Monday 26th of January 2004 (Australia Day), on the way raising
$10 000 to $20 000 with the first $5000 being put forward to a full knee reconstruction on my left knee the rest being split in half and donated to the a local charity.
My name is Ben Ray I am 18 years old, recently graduated year 12 at James Fallon High School in 2003.
For the past one & a half years I have been waiting to under go a full knee reconstruction after a sporting injuring back in 2001 while playing Soccer in which I ruptured the anterior crucial ligament. This is the longest ride I have attempted and will almost certainly be the biggest I’ll ever attempt. This ride is one of important significant to myself and with the help and support from others I know it is one that I can achieve. I know there are a lot of people who dream up of ideas like this one, but how many of them go through with them. I know what I’m about to try, some people may think is impossible, but it has been done before. Not to mentions others who have dared to dream such as Jessie Martin (sailed solo around the world) or Daniel Phegan & Ian James (travelled across Australia on horse back to raise money for cancer research and many more others) they all had a dream, and they where able to achieved there dream, the only difference is my dream is to a mountain bike over 1600km to raise the money for a full knee reconstruction and donate some of the money to a local charity.
The success of this epic journey from Southport QLD to Albury N.S.W (LIFE CYCLE) will depend very much upon the support from sponsors (local business).
Promotional material can be attached to the backpack/T-Shirt/Bicycle permanently for the duration of the ride and for commitments that follow the ride. It will in the public and media eye across the 2 states (Queensland & New South Wales) for a period of the
20 Day’s (3 weeks) with an even greater focus in Albury when I arrive home
Monday 26th January.
