You Go Jane!

You Go Jane!

Hey all you fun, fearless females! Whether or not you are involved in sports, this is the perfect site for you. Do you want to grow up to be an INDEPENDENT, SELF-CONFIDENT, POWERFUL, WELL-ROUNDED, SUCCESSFUL woman? Of course you do! There is one reliable solution to this. Become involved in sports. You will be amazed by how many doors the world of athletics opens up for anyone.

You are talking to personal experience. You don't need to be a superstar to become involved. I sure wasn't one. Being the best is not what sports participation is about. It is about meeting new people, learning survival skills, being happy, enjoying life, being productive, enjoying life, and the list goes on and on!

I have been an active participant in sports since the age of 4 when I began playing softball. I am still an active participant to this day and I am 17 years old. Playing softball set my foundation and created my group of friends. I moved to Charlotte when I was 8 knowing no one. Becoming actively involved in the community helped me adapt quickly and effectively. Through middle school I playing softball, basketball, and ran track while keeping perfect grades. I believe sports participation influences good time management skills. It teaches young people how to cope with a hectic schedule at a young age.

To begin with I was not a very confident person. Finding something I enjoyed and became good at, in this case being sports, helped me to find something to take pride in. The pride I experienced from sports not only effected my attitude on the playing field, but also in other aspects of my life.

When you find confidence in something and pursue it, you no longer feel dependent on anything. You know you can accomplish whatever you want ON YOUR OWN. Being independent and expressing your individuality are two major steps leading to success.

Peer pressure can be overbearing depending on how you handle it, especially in middle school and high school. Setting you own foundation and not falling into the trap of peer pressure is rarely found during this time. But if you go into these difficult years of your life with a strong will, set of morals, and foundation then you realize that you can be cool without following the crowd. Everyday teens make small, bad decisions that have a negative permanent effect on their life. Being involved in sports, you realize that there are ways to have fun that are not self-destructive and dangerous!

I know I am only one person out of MILLIONS, but why not give sports a try? What is there to lose! Just think about it...
