George Lucas gives the PlayStation2 a big thumbs up!
In a terrific interview done by Roger Ebert, George Lucas spoke about the Sony PlayStation2 with a sense of awe and excitment. If anyone can recognize great technology and put it to amazing use, it's George Lucas. He said of Sony's next console, "...we have a relationship with Sony, and we're desperately trying to get our hands on the PlayStation2 so we can start developing games for it. But you can't bring it into the country because it's classified as a supercomputer!" Gulp! (Sega official comment?) World Domination Chit-Chat
Nikkei Electronics interviewed Ken Kutaragi, father of the PlayStation and Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.'s new Chief Executive Officer. The ideas and plans discussed (and hinted at) about the PlayStation2, should make Sega, as well as Microsoft and Intel pay serious attention (serious new computing platform, perhaps?) Definitely read the interview that IGNPSX did with L. Anthony Gaud. He's the Art Director at Mainframe Entertainment. You know, the guys who make ReBoot and Transformers: Beast Wars. Hey, those guys know graphics, so it was only logical to ask them about the new chipset announcement by Sony and Toshiba at the IEEE ISSCC (oooh ooo oo aaaah.) You'll be left with the feeling that it just might be as big a leap forward in gaming (graphically speaking) as the hype seems to suggest. Go now and report back to headquarters.
