JAMES WALKER & MARGARET GRAY


JAMES WALKER, son of Alexander Walker and Jane Hammer, was born June 29, 1851; married Margaret (Peggy) Gray on July 8, 1778. They moved from Rockbridge County, Virginia to Woodford County, Kentucky where he died on April 12, 1800. Numerous reports says that he was buried at the Pisgah Church .
However, that church was not founder until after that date. After James Walker’s death, his wife moved to Adair County, Kentucky, where she died during the winter of 1816.

James Walker was one of the Virginia Militia who forwarded “Sentiments” to the Legislature, Oct. 1776. See AMERICAN ARCHIVES, 5th Series, Vol. II, Page 815.

Their ten children were:

Jane F. Walker married Stephen Frost

Isabella Walker married James Edwards

Nancy Walker (died young)

Ann Walker married Samuel Morrow

James Walker married Kizziah Cox

Elizabeth Walker married Lewis Fletcher

Sarah Walker (died young)

Peggy Walker married Henry Flowers
